im in penang now, its my dad's hometown. during the trip back, its been really melancholic for me. in a good way(: i guess its just suddenly dawned on me the whole issue about loyalty and nationality. i mean, when im in singapore and studying all day, it doesnt really strike you how important it is about where you belong and all. technically, im neither singaporean nor malaysian cos im not 21. currently: singapore PR and malaysian citizen.
yesterday when i went to the mall with xuannie and my cousins, i reallise that most of the shop keepers speak to me in malay. or hokkien. like im a local. even though i cant understand most of it, its a nice feeling i guess to know that you look like one of them.
im just confused about where i really belong. everyone assumes im going to be singaporean automatically at 21. but ... i have arguements against it i guess, that i wont put here for political reasons. heheh. im just feeling rather musy now. mmmm...
AHHH ON THE OTHER HAND, FIREWORKS!! YES YTD NIGHT WAS OSSUM, THE FIREWORKS WERE SOOOOO PRETTY!!!OMG. thank god at least malaysia allows it! :D for new years eve, most of the hotels in the downtown area set of fireworks for their guests, but being fireworks you cant really keep it private, so you know... hahah.
i watched them all from the balcony of my penang house. its pretty cool, the house is a semi-D ( think a bit like landed property, except its joined tothe neighbouring house with a passage at the back and a garden in front) and has this swing on the second floor. my house is on a slope quite near the tope of the hill, so it has a pretty good view of all the colourful lights la:D
and so anyway, i was just flopping on the swing and staring at the fireworks, when i decided to look up at the night sky anyway. and thats when im reminded yet again of god's awesome greatness, which is always present in all of his creation(: its like, the more you look, the more you reallise that its only through god that our universe has formed so beautifully and intricately. i dont know how some humans can believe that a big bang is what caused us and all this to be formed, they obviously arent that well educated D:
hahah. or maybe ... im learning to appreciate going back to the basics(:
