you know how disney and dreamworks always tell you to 'follow your heart'and it'll lead to a pot of gold or something like so? yup, the book is about two women, Anna and Kitty, who follow their hearts... except that anna's heart led her to destruction and her eventual suicide, while kitty just got the whole world and its happiness. it sort of leaves you wondering what if your heart is wrong, would you end up follow it to the wrong place? and if [ohmygosh, it IS wrong], then what can i trust? its quite a dark read, but lovely all the same.

HELL EXPLAINED BY CHEMISTRY STUDENT

The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid term.

The answer by one student was so 'profound' that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well :

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law
(gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.


One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.


This gives two possibilities:


1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.
And the devil wont want that. so that leaves us with the second theory-

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell,then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.


If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, 'It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,' and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct.......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting 'Oh my God.'

sheryll said that sometimes, we derive our motivation and confidence from just having so many many many things to do. like we must build a whole pile-up of events to pressure up into staying in our character, or else we'd just break down because we reallise we dont know how to function with too much time on our hands.

yet.. in this case, i hope i wont ever end up like that. speaking about passion for God anw, this is something i found that quite helped me.

Many times we can be fickle and our passion for god can become lukewarm. Staying hot for god requires us to be faithful in our habit of daily spending quality time with Him. Being faithful means putting aside how you 'feel' at the time and just doing it. many times youre not going to 'feel' passionate for God, youre not going to 'feel' like worshipping him and youre not going to 'feel' like spending time with him. but if you are serious about developing your character ten you cant be driven by what feels good at the time. make a secision to be passionately faithful to god and stick to it regardless of your mood.

at the national museum!! and somehow,
mr ong pulled some strings so that we got in,
and free of charge too ^0^ heheh.

well, went there to study opera styles and 18th century dressing. its not really a couture or made-to-wear fashion show, but more of a collection of his pieces of creation for operas such as Carmen, Eliogabalo, and Cosi Fan Tutte (omg cute!). somehow all of those operas involve romance, and end with either death by suicide or the lovers are driven to insanity. sigh. gotta love these dark operas though, i think i belong to the 18th century. ^-^

anw, his works feature specially on the material and cut of each dress, its really unique. and there are some androgynous styles, ITS DAMN COOL. must be cos dear mr Lacroix was bisexual anyway. ssss-sexy. i think i have a zillion pictures, i cant wait to show stong! :O

the other part of the night was spent at the Moleskine books exhibition in Kino, orchard. sheryll and i spent the next few hours just sieveing books off the shelves for referencing:D ehehe. to think whoever said art was easy! no, it involves painful hours of back-breaking research when you try to source for acceptable artist references. (ie, NO PORN!) but seriously. i think despite that, i quite like research for art. mr ong always scores me higher for the ton of reseach i give him that at least:/
